Fluid Changes

It's Time for a Fluid Change with Double D Auto Repair

Let Us Help You Keep Your Vehicle in Excellent Condition

fluid change in progress

Automotive fluids are the lifeblood of any vehicle. You might not give much thought to an oil change, but if you don't change your motor oil regularly or other automotive fluids when necessary, you might not have that vehicle in the future.

The other automotive fluids that deserve the spotlight include transmission fluid, power steering fluid, brake fluid, and differential fluid. Each plays an important role in the life and performance of your car, truck, or SUV.

Need a Fluid Change? We have replacement fluids and lubricants ready for customers from Castle Rock, CO; Parker, CO; Castle Pines, CO; and surrounding areas.

Different Types of Automotive Fluids & Their Importance

Discover why it's important to follow your vehicle's fluid change intervals by learning more about the purpose of these essential fluids:

  • Brake Fluid: The brake system allows you to easily and safety stop your vehicle. Behind the scenes, brake fluid transfers hydraulic force to the brake pads and shoes to allow you to do this. Brake fluid is a hydraulic fluid that operates in a high temperature and pressure environment. Over time and under normal vehicle operation, it can absorb moisture from the air. This causes it to degrade and decreases your ability to stop safely.
  • Differential Fluid: The differential assists your vehicle in making turns, allowing the wheels to rotate at different speeds. This is essential whenever you take a corner, because the wheels on the outside need to rotate faster than the wheels on the inside of the turn. The differential is housed in an encasing that includes differential fluid. This fluid lubricates the pinion gears and ring responsible for transferring power to the driveshaft and wheel axles. Over time, metal shavings build up from the parts and heat causes the fluid to break down and become less effective.
  • Engine Oil: Engine oil lubricates and reduces friction between moving parts within a vehicle's engine, preventing wear and tear. This crucial function ensures smooth operation, enhances engine performance, and extends the lifespan of the vehicle by maintaining optimal operating conditions.
  • Power Steering Fluid: The power steering system makes steering your vehicle easier by decreasing the effort required to turn the steering wheel. For this system to work, it requires a hydraulic fluid known as power steering fluid. This fluid lubricates the power steering pump, gear unit, and other system parts while transmitting power for the system to operate. It also keeps the operating temperatures down for the gear and pump, which are essential parts that produce a lot of heat.
  • Transmission Fluid: The transmission transfers power from the engine to the wheels and controls the amount of power that goes to them at a given speed. Transmission fluid cools and lubricates transmission parts, so everything operates correctly.

Not all automotive fluids require service as frequently as others, and some fluids may not require a change during the life of the vehicle depending on your make and model. This is why it's important to check your manufacturer's manual for recommended fluid change intervals.

At Double D Auto Repair, we can look up your vehicle make and model to review the maintenance requirements with you. Ask for an automotive fluid check today. We'll top off your auto fluids or change them to help keep your vehicle running for its intended life.
